Earlier today Gen. Ray Odierno took command of Multi-National Forces-Iraq. It was a well-deserved promotion, and Iraq and our country is the better for it. Gen Petraeus, who turned over his command to Odierno, is a man who needs no introduction. He is well known as the man who saved Iraq, and our country's reputation, from our near-debacle in that country. Ray Odierno is perhaps less well known. From November 2006 to February 2008 he was commander of Multi-National Corps Iraq, which oversaw
Soldiers. In a Conservative Party press release. Being taken wildly out of context to attack the NDP.

As headlines go, it’s not quite as bad as “The NDP caucus supports child pornography”, but it’s getting close. From a release issued by the Tories earlier today: JACK LAYTON INSULTS TROOPS NDP Leader Jack Layton made the disturbing suggestion yesterday that coalition troops are targeting and recklessly killing Afghan civilians. Domestic realty stocks fell sharply on Monday, mirroring the larger trend on the bourse and concerns over tightening of liquidity in the real estate market after US investment bank Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc., an investor in some of these firms, said it intends to file for bankruptcy.
